From the Greek Anthology

A man (they say)
whom a mad dog
has bitten, sees,
stooping to drink,
that dog's image
upon the water.

Did Love, rabid,
fasten his teeth
within my flesh?
Your eyes glance
and smile in
the sea, the stream's
slow eddies,
the wine-cup.

~Paulos (a Greek poet of the early Byzantine period); translated by Andrew Miller.
